Assessing the Damage

Before we start, we take a close look at the damage to your windshield. This way, we can let you know if you need a full replacement or a windshield repair. Either way, you can trust our team to guide you through what’s best for your vehicle.

Removing the Wiper Blades

Next, we remove the wiper blades, windshield gasket, and plastic molding around the windshield so we can comfortably work without anything in the way. We also inspect the blades to check if they’re worn out and might need replacing. We generally recommend getting new wiper blades as well since a brand-new windshield deserves fresh wipers.

Removing the Old Windshield

We use an extended-handle razor knife to cut through the urethane seal around the old windshield perimeter, which keeps your old windshield in place. Doing so lets us work precisely without scratching or damaging the car’s frame. We always make sure we do a clean removal for great results.

Removing the Old Urethane

Once the windshield is out, we get to work removing the old urethane layer. Old urethane along with dirt and dust can interfere with the bond of the new adhesive, so we scrape it and make sure the bonding area is prepped for a proper installation.

Applying Urethane Primer

Next comes the urethane primer, which makes it possible for the frit band to accept the urethane molecules. So, the primer is applied to the frame and the new windshield to help the adhesive create a strong bond. It will keep everything firmly in place no matter the conditions.

Installing the New Windshield

With the prep work done, we carefully place the new windshield replacement onto your vehicle. Alignment is everything here, so we make sure it sits perfectly to maintain sturdiness while giving you a clear view of the road ahead.

Sealing It Up With Fresh Urethane

A new layer of urethane is applied to seal the windshield securely in place. Doing this doesn’t just hold the glass, but it also keeps water, wind, and noise out. Excess urethane is cleaned up immediately to keep things looking neat.

We clean the new windshield inside and out, making sure it’s spotless and ready for the road. At this point, we also double-check the seal, alignment, and overall installation to catch any adjustments that might be needed.

Reinstalling or Replacing Wiper Blades

Your rubber gasket and wiper blades are put back on, or if needed, replaced with new ones. Worn-out wipers on a fresh windshield can cause streaking or scratches, so we usually recommend getting new blades for better results.

Post-Installation Checks

Before we call it a day, we give everything one last inspection. We check things like the adhesive bond and the functionality of any attached sensors or cameras. Then, we’ll let you know how long to wait before driving off and offer care tips that people should know after having their windshields replaced. Once the replacement windscreen is ready, you’re good to go!
